Down With Love" interiors and the sixties | MOVIE SET DESIGN

Down with love
Production Design by Andrew Laws, Set Decoration by Don Diers

Another fantastic set I spotted. I didn't especially like this movie, but I loved the interiors, they are amazing. The movie itself is set in the sixties and the sets are full of iconic furniture from that time. The overall is exagerated, with a lot of vivid colors and actue angles. Again, like in The Great Gatsby, the design is not the real sixties, it's how we see the sixties NOW.

Renee Zellweger plays a writer, Barbara Novak whose book on dating men has become a huge success. Her publishing company gives her an amazing New York apartment with an amazing view and Barbie house feel. Catcher Block, playboy and journalist, is a single guy in his thirties who is trying to seduce Barbara to ridicule her.
Look at the pictures below and watch the movie - for the interiors!

P.S.Do you remember the other set design from the sixities I presented, "Breakfast at Tiffanys's?
and some other amazing movie sets from my blog?

Catcher's bachelor pad

Catcher's bachelor pad is a classic mid-century interior with polished wood finishings, low-level furniture and button-backed upholstery. The blue-brown ambiance of the apartment is great.

The living room has a completely Barbie-doll feel. With the colorful furniture and NYC skyline it's a dream (of little girls ;))
